“The Boogeyman is to You”
“The Boogeyman is to You”
By: Light Dynasty
When I think of the boogeyman, I often think of you
Not for the fact that you scare me
But for the fact that you do not exist, just like he doesn’t
At a time when I was young and foolish
The night often showed scary shadows on the wall
Secretly tapped upon my window
Screeched the pure sounds of evil in the night
And just as every child has heard of the boogeyman
We have often blamed him for stalking us
But unlike every other child’s father
You did not come to my rescue
But the light did, just as I grew the light grew
The light is short for Enlightenment
The light taught me that headlights against trees
Equals the weird shadows on my walls
The light taught me that wind blowing on trees
Made the scary tapping sounds on my window
The light taught me that there are things
That do howl in the night, but not for me, but the moon
While I grew the light seemed to come from me
So when the scary nights came I ran to their rescue
Your sons and daughters need a man
To chase away the boogeyman, at fourteen I did
I chased him out of our house; I chased him out of our lives
And I showed my siblings the light
The light does not only show logic
But it also shows Truth… the truth about you
The truth is you weren’t there when the boogeyman was here
And you probably won’t be here now that he’s gone
Just as his existence has left our memories,
So has your existence, But it’s funny
We remember him more than you, but he is jealous of you
Because for you to exist, all you have to do is come back home
