Poem Commentary

So... I wrote this poem on the door of my friend's dorm room at Weston House in Savannah, GA, on Sept. 11, 2001 using those little poem magnets. I was attending Savannah College of Art and Design at that time, and it was amazing to see the creative outlets that were use to express the pain, fear, anger, and unity that we all felt in the days, week, and months following that tragic event. I hope that in reading this, you may, for a moment, revisit those feelings and remember those that were taken that day, and those who selflessly gave their lives while saving others. NEVER FORGET.

Absurd Metaphor by Artist Rigid with Pain

Free me, chiseled in red concrete
Suffer the dead in dust-like glass
This monument is subject to looming passion
strokes symbolism angrily
A waste of life
Paint a picture, fiery metal shimmers
Capture deep impression, demand balance
Approach harmony as always we live
Sculpt, compose, observe, try aesthetics
When never more empty, have fully bold joy.
