A prelude to the rain

    A prelude to the rain

    It blossomed in the dark
    A prelude to the rain
    And old forgotten ember
    Of a long remembered flame.
    A vain attempt at memories
    That time will not release
    Futility thy name is hope
    And heartbreak it’s refrain.
I make no attempt to hinder
    The waves of my despair
I suffer for the moments lost
    And times we’ll never share.
And when it blossoms in the dark,
    A prelude to the rain
For but a moment I am ever bound
In the shadows of the flame.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
