A Cry Unheeded
People trudged along the marshy land
Waded thru' waste deep waters
Possessions wrapped in rags on heads
Scanty unlike the weighty hearts that stooped them
A flight of birds chirped knowingly
As they flew the other way migrating.
Here was a people left to die for nothing,
Their bodies hurriedly buried in the woods
Their crime being born on the Emerald Island.
Can one grudge being born on the earth?
How nakedly the Tigers mauled them
Left them to bleed and die in life and death!
How deftly we avoid facing them,
Citing demarcations and democracy as excuses!
