A Beautiful place

Do you see the bright sun
Up in the blue sky?
Can you feel the warmth of its rays?
This world can be a beautiful place
Why must it be filled with sadness some days?
Do you see the bright, full moon at night?
It looks down on us like a light from God’s eyes
This world can be a beautiful place
Why must it be filled with deceit and lies?
Do you see the ocean and the seas?
Can you hear the waves as they splash on the shore?
This world can be a beautiful place
Why must it be filled with destruction and war?
Do you see the animals that roam upon the lands?
They are here so we might learn to survive
This world can be a beautiful place
Why must it be filled with greed and pride?
Do you see the flowers of many colors,
and the tall trees?
They grow so that we might feel free to breath
This world can be a beautiful place
Why must it be filled with pollution and slavery?
Do you hug and kiss your family and friends?
They are here to return love and make life worthwhile
This world can be a beautiful place
Why is it filled with so many things
That can make a person want to lay down and die?
Do you hold memories dear to your heart,
Memories of lost loves that almost tore you apart?
This world can be a beautiful place
It is where you are given a beginning
It is where you can have a brand new start

This poem has reminded me of some of the beautiful places I have been to when I needed to revive my spirit.Wonderfully vivid imagery and great wording add to the vision of a much more beautiful and better world.A very memorable poem.

the world could be all those things but sometimes I think only if mankind was forced to start again from square one. I love the optimism weaved in between the negativity here. this is original and offers a great message. nice work shewheat46 :D

This world is a better place with this poem, I really love this. This is what I call tough, fast, truthful, and pure badd ass.

This is a very nice poem. It really shows how we as a people take life for granted and how unappreciative we are of God's many wonderful blessings. Too many of us are not doing our part in helping to preserve our world. We must realize that this is the only world we'll have in this lifetime, therefore, we need to start doing a better job at taking care of it and each other.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
