Your Love

Your Love

Your love is like a rain storm
Landing on a dry and barren land.

Reviving life and giving hope
To a heart that has long been dead.

Your honesty is refreshing
Just like a morning rain.

Cleansing as it falls on me
Washing away the lies of my past.

Your passion is like a lightning storm
Blazing through the sky.

Sending electricity straight through me
Reaching places within me I've never found.

Your gentleness is like a light summer sprinkle
Soothing and healing me as it falls over me.

As I read this I wonder if it is the love of man that is so healing, or the love of God. Mankind wounds, while God heals, so I go for the latter.

True love can be so healing. It can raise one's spirit and heal a weary life. Nice poem.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
