You had me but didn't want me

When we met the first time,
I had fallen for your smile,
didn't care how long it'd last,
even if it was only for a while.

Started to get attached to you,
your charm blinded me to see,
no matter what I did for you,
you had me but didn't want me.

    I didn't listen to anybody,
did things for you all the time,
gave in to the things you wanted,
did it all at the drop of a dime.

Put up with your empty promises,
the things you did made me see,
that no matter what I did for you,
you had me but didn't want me.

You left to see if the grass was greener,
only to discover that it was fake,
    left me confused and wondering,
why you needed more than just the cake.

But now you tell me your sorry,
for what you put me through,
I can't go through all this again,
Now you want me, But I don't want you.

    I really liked the 5th paragraph. :)

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
