When God Created Mothers
When God created mothers, He went on a shopping spree. He started with some kindness and some generosity.
He added some compassion and a load of loving care,
And poured on her a little bit of humor here and there.
He added intuition with a pinch of real concern,
'Cause he knew her men and children sure would have a lot to learn!
He gave her more intelligence then he'd given to the men,
He knew that it would really come in handy now and then.
But before the task was finished, He knew He had to start...
to work and work at making bigger every mother's heart.
He made it big enough to hold a million memories
And filled it up with unconditional love and care, with ease.
Big enough for boo-boos and for little babies' cries
Big enough to sleepily sing a dozen lullabies
God worked hard at making moms - I think you will agree
He used so many portions of his personality!
He knew a mother's greatest joy forever then would be
To hold her own sweet baby child as very soon you'll see.
