    When Angels Cry

    When the angels cry
    And the rain pours down
    Will you help me up
Or will you let me drown?
    As the waters rise
    And the sky turns grey
Will you stand by my side
    Or will you turn away?

        When the angels cry
        What will you do?
Will you look to the sky?
        Will you stay true?
        Will you run away
        And leave me behind?
When you look for the truth,
        What will you find
        When the angels cry

    Don’t leave me lonely
    Standing out in the rain
    I pray that your searching
    Isn’t all in vain
    Soaked now to the bone
As a chill shakes me to the core
The wind howls for m soul
    Always wanting more.

        When the angels cry
        What will you do?
Will you look to the sky?
        Will you stay true?
        Will you run away
        And leave me behind?
When you look for some truth
        What will you find
        When the angels cry

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
