    What If......

    I sometimes say,
If only this.... or if only that....
    had or had not happened.
    Then I would/could be happy.
Life would be so much better.
    I wouldn't be so bitter.
    Then I am reminded,
That the pasture is not always greener on the other side.
But tell me, is this the truth or is it a lie?
    Meant simply to pacify,
All those that are unsatisfied with their lives...
    Like myself.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
