What do you see

What do you see

what do u see when you look at me
is it my smile, my heart, the loving personality
what do you see when you look at me
remnants of the person I used to be

What do you see when you look at me
or could it be that you don't see
when you look at me
the woman trying to get out of me

what do you see when you look at me
the cook, the maid, the babysitter for free
what do you see when you look at me
a heart full of gold but an empty soul.

What do you see when you look at me
a woman who loved you unconditionally
When you look at me
do u sees shadows of who i used  to be

I feel that way all the time I have 5 children and a wife and sometime's I don't even remember who I used to be I went to howard and played football I used to play the piano went to julliard for a while and now I don't do any of those things I used to write for the love of writing now I do it as a job I got a degree in journalism so I write but even that has become more about the politics than the love of writing. But even with all of that with my wife who I love and she loves me and with the love of my kids my life is complete. Sometimes we just have to look at what is important and make sure we look ahead and don't look behind

This poem is a love poem. The writer did not follow form in the first stanza. But she did in the remaining stanzas. Perhaps because of modernity, the writer tried to under mine forms. The poet employed the old italian form of writing. In trying to ryhme the poem, line 2 and line 4 rhymed in stanza 4. While in stanza 2 lines 1&3 is alternate and line 3 & 4 ryhmed. The persona here is talking about inner feelings and the changing times. Talking about transformation of life and at the same time the travails of relationship. The persona tried to personalise her feelings, perhaps in her relationship or in generalizing it, it could be some kind of general encounter in a relationship. The poet employed a both rhyming and repeatitive styles in her poem. The diction is simple and can be easily understood. It's a free flow verse, and that makes it meliflous. Generally, it's a good poem.

very nice poem tracylyn i really understand where you are going with this one. We all sometimes get lost in our day to day activities, it's important to remember the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. you are more than a mother wife lover continue to challenge yourself to grow trying new things expanding your knowledge.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
