Hi, my name is Tekila Sunshine, Kila for short. I am a 2 1/2 year oldgerman shepherd/collie mix. My father was a shepherd and I mostly take after him. My coat is brown with black highlights running through it and I have brown eyes. My ears are pointed and I have the black eagle marking on my forehead and a faint outline of the black saddle on my back.
I live with a wonderful family in a very nice home with a big yard for me to run and play in. Sometimes I feel really special, like a princess. She talks to me all the time as if I was a real person. I love the sound of her voice. It is peaceful and calming.
We dogs are very smart animals. I can sense whether or not she's in a good or bad mood, if she's happy or sad or if she doesn't want me around. I do not like to see the woman when she is sad as it makes me sad also. Whenever she starts crying, I jump on her lap and lay my head on her shoulder. Every once in a while, I'll let out a little whimper, this almost always brings a smile back on her face. It makes me happy when she smiles.
Every morning begins with me jumping on the bed to wake her up. It's time for me to go outside. As soon as she lets me out the door, I head straight for the woods behind our house. When I get close to the edge of them I slow down to investigate. This morning I saw the same funny looking little animal I see all the time. It is small and furry with long floppy ears, and it doesn't even have a tail to wag when it's happy. When it looked up and saw me standing there, it took off, but it wasn't running. It was hopping really fast. I was just about to take off after it, so I could find out what it was, when the woman called me back to the house. Every time I see that little animal I think, "Today, I'm going to find out what it is." But before I can do that, she calls me back home. Well, since I wasn't ready to come in yet, I poked around, and walked very slowly back towards the house thinking, "If she goes back in today, I'm out of here." But, as usual, she stood right there on the porch until I got there. Then she asked me the same question that she asks everyday. "Is my Special Precious Princess hungry this morning?" Of course I was hungry, so the floppy eared little animal would have to wait till another time.
