Too often we’re caught in delusion and confusion
Steadily abusin’ the gift of the free
The empowered right to decide what, how, where
Who ... we want to be
These blessings, should never be forgotten nor should they be misused
Especially when so many have fought, instillin’ opportunity to choose
But ironically, too often, it’s these choices,
Which then cloud and erase our voices
It’s all the noises, of an industrial materialism
Where programmed consumers rule, with cultural imperialism ...
“Bling! Bling! Every time I look around the club, Bling! Bling!”
Nope. Sorry. Not feelin it. That don’t make me wanna’ sing.
In fact it makes me gag, choke ...
cough in disbelief, say “Now this gots to be a joke.”
We can’t really be teachin’ kids that it’s cool to get shot and stabbed
Girls can’t possibly be getting all dressed up, just to get their asses grabbed
Rubbin booty’s with cuties while suckin’ fruity cocktails like a leech.
Snap back to reality sista’ the answer ain't at da bottom of a sex on the beach.
On a mission for Gucci, Versace, Doche and Gabana.
Well I respectfully disagree/ it is trickin’ if you gotta’
Buy up all the bullshit that the media keeps spittin’ outta’
Its schizophrenic brain of violence and sex, wrapped up inside bravada
So holla’ if ... oh I’m sorry, can’t you hear me?
Then at least take off those rose-tinted glasses so you start to see more clearly
Properly, methodically, create new policies for our democracy
Cause fear is just evil masked in hypocrisy, to take away your control
To convince you there’s no hope and make you believe it in your soul
Till you forget your goals, seized and consumed by the tolls
    That your life has taken
Makin’ you feel shaken, lost, and mistaken
It drives you to escape, so then you start bakin’
Lost in a smoky haze in an attempt to forget
    Everything you cared about
Cause it’s easier just to quit.
But that’s no way to sustain the unity
Of your heart, your mind, your spirit
    And even your community
Which needs more positive role models in it.
They say don’t forget where you come from
And I agree that this is true
But don’t go backwards preachin’ division, pittin’ sides—red versus blue
Drawin’ lines in the sand that no one’s supposed to cross
Decidin’ simultaneously you don’t give a fuck and you’re the boss
But what’s the cost? Ask yourself this
Next time you’re passin’ a homeless person in disgust
Remember it could just as easily be you in this real estate market gone bust
Don’t forget the families in falsified foreclosures
While your watchin’ celebrity gossip’s nightly exposures
Instead try turnin’ off the tube and askin' “what about society’s damn right?”
To be informed about current events, get dedicated to fight the good fight.
For a better day isn’t ever out of sight
Because you carry within yourself the truth and the light.

    A new era is dawnin’
    The masses are finally yawnin’
One by one stretchin’ hard to awaken
This nation, out of a sleep of, emaciated emancipation.

"Outstanding piece of work!!" ...it is these choices, which then cloud and erase our voices...words spoken as from the mouth of a prophet-you have a gift, and I hope that you continue to use it. "neglect not the gift that was given unto thee"-Holy Bible
