You can chose to live life quietly, and never say a thing.

But that has never been my way, and to this I will cling.

I have always worn my heart on my sleeve, and tried to rearrange,

the way people perceive me unaffected and unchanged.

I will be me, for better or worse, what other options do I have?

And you will be you, and that is that, and for this I will be glad.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
