TO THE CHILDREN

TO THE CHILDREN

I see the world in all it's splendor, in my minds eye--
My heart however, feels the pain of a world gone awry.
It  troubles me to see the pain in the faces of the children,
At such an early age they know the troubles of grown men!

Not long ago, laughter and song was what they knew--
parents were there  to nurture and love,
family gatherings, blue skies up above!

A fairy-tale life is what I would give,
To the children that forgot how to sing,
Recreating the world in all it's  splendor,
Filling their hearts with song and dance,
So their troubles would fade, just by chance!

An absolutely beautiful write concerning todays and yesterdays children. What a terrible difference when many children are forced to be adults against there will. "A fairy-tale life is what i would give" .. Great verse. Great write. Great fav. 10

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
