Till The Music Ends
The moon, shining ever so bright
Bathes the land in bitter cold light;
Ghostly shadows moving around
Pacing their dance over the ground.
Their feet move, dancing on air
Light gleaming off bodies so bare;
Around and around they quickly twirl
Bodies entwined they whirl and whirl.
Haunting music drives their step
Songs written with promises all un-kept;
Unearthly melodies filling the night
Keeping the beat, step left, step right.
These are the spirits of long lost loves
That flitter about like shadowy doves;
Yet are the lovers all unrequited
Dancing in vain... never united.
My soul dances this dance tonight
Love lost in the chill stark light;
Dance, my love, dance and ever tend
Until that day when the music ends.
