Ticking.
Time is ticking- threatening security
Who do I want to be?
There's no time.
As each second on the clock ticks, each hour chimes,
I'm reminded that I'm just a little less alive
Than I was yesterday.
Slowly deteriorating into dust-
There's no time!
Give me the remote so I can press rewind,
There's no time for precautions,
I'll live on a whim. . .
But what would a life lived on whims give?
Maybe I'll be simple and happy,
But would that be enough?
Joy and happiness- Peace and Love?
All that stuff
Or is there more?
The time is ticking- I have to decide
Who to be- Where to go before I die. . .
Do I want to travel endlessly?
Take a boat across the sea-
And learn?
Knowledge, would that satisfy?
Or would it only make me question, deny-
Can't the color of the sky be blue without me knowing why?
Still time is ticking by and by.
They say ignorance is bliss,
But of that I'm unsure
And should I be loud and carefree
Or quiet, demure?
I have two ears, one mouth-
Maybe I'll take my cue
But I love to talk and argue-
A quiet me would never do
But time is ticking- waiting- for me to make my move.
And it's making me nervous.
Unsettling the calm, subdued self that was me 30 minutes ago-
As the clock ticks by
I'm on death row.
Can't it just slow down?
All these questions- I don't know!
But time doesn't care,
And it's secondhand won't slow.
Who do I want to be?
There's no time.
As each second on the clock ticks, each hour chimes,
I'm reminded that I'm just a little less alive
Than I was yesterday.
Slowly deteriorating into dust-
