    Three Winter Haiku

    1.

    Winter is cosy

    Here; hardly cold but drowsy…

    This kills silently.

    2.

    I sat on a fence

    Astride, making out nothing

    When the dead leaf fell…

    3.

    As rustling leaves call,

I sleepwalk to them. On me

    Closes in the wall.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
