    THINGS I DARE NOT SAY TO YOU

    I'M THE OUTSIDER, AND YET I'M INSIDE.
    I SUFFER IN SILENCE, BUT IT'S NOT A QUIET SILENCE;
    WE SHARE A COMMON PAIN, YET WE BARE IT ALONE; AND IN DISPARATE WAYS:

    I LONG FOR A CONFIDANT, I KNOW YOU DO ALSO;
    I DESIRE THAT CONFIDANT WERE YOU.

    WE WALK THIS ROAD TOGETHER, YET WE SHARE IT NOT;
    HOW I LONG FOR MY CONFIDANT!
    BUT I'M THE OUTSIDER;
    INSIDE OR NOT

    Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
