    THESE LIVES WE LEAD

    Deep amidst the chaos’s

That are these lives we lead

Tangled up with greed and fear

    And insecurity

    Stand alone the lifelines

    To which we all cling

    Stretched so tight

    And ghostly thin

As though to play the highest C

The wonderment or how and why

    The answers if we dare

    Reside in common sense

    And decency and fair.

    The roles we play

    As individuals

    Will ever hinge upon

    How we must admit ourselves

A King or Rook or Pawn.

or someplace in between. liked this one ironhead. great lines, thanks

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
