The Virtue of Being a Father

    I am a father.
I am the ladder that my children
rely on to reach the top.

    I am their faith.
    I am their conscience
    to goodness and truth.

    I am their roof.
I am their house of refuge to their mistakes
from the beginning they learn to say oops.

    I am their ally.
I am, yes I am, until the end,
when they carry me over their shoulders
    and say good-bye.

I'm so touch by this poem... yes, you are correct, you are the ladder of your children..whoever they are when they grow up is a reflection of you... Stay being a good father... congratulations!!!

I find myself at a loss for words...and inspired by yours, thank you.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
