The Sensation of Speed
I envy slow-motion.
I move at light speed,
Hair on fire, pedal to the metal
All out,
Dawn ‘til dusk.
Why can’t I ever make progress?
Life is so fast, but nothing
I pursue,
Seems to be worth the race.
I envy slow-motion.
I like old movies,
Old movies
With a simple life,
Small town living where
People sit on their porch swing
Star gaze
Getting in touch
In tune.
Where a minute lasts sixty seconds
And 24 hours make a day.
I travel at light speed,
But have no sensation of speed,
Except I’m tired
And envious of slow-motion.
