The Quest for Love
Why are you feeling blue, my soul?
Why are you, my spirit, cast down?
Is it because you’re longing for love,
Love- so elusive and so whimsical
But instead you’re desperate and alone
Finding solace in what’s only physical.
Time after time you had your hopes high
That the Love Fairy would come,
After hearing your desperate cry
And cast a love spell on your new guy
With her powerful magic wand.
And you were elated and glowing for a while,
Dreaming of a happy ending with a smile
But in the end it all turned out to be a lie.
Oh, my poor soul, you were shipwrecked
And cast away on the island of solitude
By the tidal waves in the ocean of despair
After the end of your unhappy love affair
And the broken bond of this ill-fated pair.
Unlucky in love, my soul wanders desolate
Across the desert island- suffering…
The never-ending quest for love proved futile
And my spirit roams alone in exile,
Wondering,
“Why are you, Fate, so cruel?
Why are you laughing in my face?
Don’t you know that Love is the fuel
That keeps my soul ablaze?
My soul needs love to live
As my body needs air to breath
But I cannot get it unless I give!
And even then there is no guarantee
That love will be returned to me.
Why, doesn’t love always reciprocate
But is a whimsical gift of free will?
Why can’t you make it happen for me, Fate?
I want to love and be loved as well!”
