Holiday Haiku- Part 1

Snow covers the Earth

Fireworks illuminate the night sky

The New Year arrives

***********************************

Joy and laughter fill the air

Glasses full with champagne

Say cheers to the New Year

**********************************

New Year brings new beginnings

New luck and new hope

The past is dead and gone!

*********************************

Fire burning in the fireplace

Next to the Christmas tree

Where kids unwrap presents

**********************************

The Spirit of Christmas:

Family gatherings, time of cheer,

Giving gifts of love

To your dearest

***************************************

The earth sleeps under blanket of snow

Fire burns in the fireplace

The clock strikes twelve

*************************************

Fireworks illuminate the night sky

People make toasts and cheers

For the New Year

***********************************

The clock strikes twelve

Glasses full with Champaign and cheers

Welcome new beginnings

The end of Part 1- To be continued.............

Haiku is not just short poetry - it has a discipline [5-7-5]

Well, i thought i followed the format for 17 syllables...but it's kinda hard to fit the words in this format 5-7-5 plus it's too short for my liking..But i like to experiment with it...

5-7-5 is the challenge: To do it just so Is the callenge of Haiku Else it's just a write

My comment was in Haiku form, But the result was all in one line. It was still 5-7-5 however.'-)

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
