    Poem Commentary

For those of us who know the pain of someone we once trusted who did the unspeakable to us when we were young and oh so innocent. After 40 years I feel it is time to speak out. And begin to heal.

    The Misunderstood

    The Misunderstood

I know the what, I know the when,
I know the who too well.
Believe me or believe me not,
I have a truth to tell.

But sister if you cannot hear.
    I'll keep your peace,
    A day
    A year

Your Honor if the proof you seek,
Is rusted, lost, too old, too weak.
Forgotten then I will not speak.
    Dismiss my plea with silence.

And Judges sitting in thier robes.
    Will shudder at the gate.
How thin the cloth of innocence,
    Against the chill of hate.

I know the when , I know the what,
I know the who too well.
Believe me or believe me not.
I have a truth to tell.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
