Begin Today

Life is long.
Or so it seems.
First full of wonder.
Then of dreams.

And then one day.
Deep in your mind.
Your whole life is on display.
And do you like what you find?

Did it all happen by some grand plan?
Did you choose which way to go?
Did someone seem to hold your hand?
Or were you there, all alone?

When you look back through all those years.
Does it make you smile?
Or succumb to tears?
Do you feel you went that extra mile?

Do you feel you did all you could?
Did you show love?
The way you should?
Did you feel that love from up above?

When you ask yourself.
Could I have been better?
It is a waste of time.
It doesn't matter.

What matters is here.
From right this moment.
Start now to care.
That's what's important.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
