    The Midnight Well

And I drink from the Midnight Well,
to get through my living hell.
But I have thoughts of you,
to help me make it through,
    on through the night.

Some nights the pain eats through my soul,
filling it with anger as black as coal.
But I remember your eyes, full of life and bright,
they let me know my love is right,
    true and total love.

How much more pain and despair must I endure,
the hopelessness leaves me not knowing for sure,
but the thought of your caring heart,
will keep me from falling apart,
now and forever, til the day I die.
