The mask we wear
The Mask We Wear
It is in the mind that harnesses the will of life of every man and woman, but it is the heart that nurtures the compassion of the life we live. It is at times we experience a broken heart due to betrayal and disappointments. And it is most likely from that moment we precede in protecting our emotions from ever being hurt again.
So we attempt to guard your inner most feelings by wearing a mask on the outside. We extend the mask when needed for the occasion that calls for it. The mask prevents anyone from getting close enough to us to know our true feelings. For it is the fear of getting hurt, crushed or rejected that justifies our insecurities. The problem is these mask become so useful and real at some point that the person themselves cannot be themselves even if they wanted to, because their mask is always there in some form or fashion.
Do men wear mask more than women? Because at most times men have hidden agendas in their approach. Where as women on the other hand use mask to see how far the man is willing to go. So women take more chances than men in the long run, but men take the initial chance in every approach. But if the sincerity is in its proper place the mask will have less of an effect.
So we must learn that in pain and hurt comes experience and growth. And the reality is that every wound will in turn heal itself. So no one has a broken heart forever and whoever hurts today begins to heal tomorrow. The mask only prolongs the hurt because it prevents the moments of awareness so we can correct the error of judgment we made.
In the end our attentions sometimes outweighs our actions and we hurt the ones we love. Think not only for self, but also for the one we share our life with. It is easier to disappoint the ones who love us than it is to disappoint ourselves. So remember if they put up their mask they may never let anyone in again…even you.
