    Poem Commentary

I was impressed to write this while sitting in church. One of the members of the church stated that we are tools in the Lords toolbox. I wrote this as thoughts came to me line after line. It seems to fit my coaching philosophy also. Teamwork always requires each team member to fill his or her role for the team to be successful. I have not re-wrote or changed this since it was written.

    The Lords toolbox

We are all tools in the Lords toolbox

He has a vast variety of tools

In his toolbox you will find, a hammer and chisel

A drill, shovel, hoe, rake and screwdriver

The Lord has many other special tools.

He has hand tools, and power tools

    Some are battery operated

    Some are plug-ins

He needs and uses all kinds of tools

His work can not be done if his tools are lost or

If battery operated tool is not charged and ready to go

A tool with a dead battery is useless

Plug-in tools can only be used when they are plugged into power

The Lord needs all his tools charged up, plugged in and

Not lost ready to go when he needs them

He cannot get his work done with out them

    We are those tools!

We may be a large power tool

We may be only a small hand tool

Whatever tool we are we need to be ready when we are needed

We cannot be lost in inactivity or spiritual complacency

We cannot have a dead or low battery

We must be plugged in ready to go when we are called on

Each of us are important too our fathers in heavens work

Weather we are a large power tool or a small hand tool

We must be ready when we are needed

If your battery is low you need to get it charged

You need to attend church, pray, read scripture, and give service to others

You need to get plugged into the gospel to be effective

    It is your choice

Be a tool of worth, or a tool taking up space in the his toolbox

Our Father in Heaven has given us agency to choose

We will either suffer or rejoice at the time of our accountability

Always nice to be reminded that we are responsible to be ready for whatever we are called to do!

wow! This poem may not rhyme, but the message in this is strong! Very true about Christians, we need to be ready when the Lord has an assignment for us..what good are we when we have dead batteries...thought provoking and beautifully written...this screams the truth of being a Christian..

Thank you for your positive comments. I wrote this while I was in church as it came to me. It only took about 2 minutes and I did not take the time to have it rhyme.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
