The Last Scroll
In a bid to justify my fleeting age
Upon life’s lofty things, I lay claim
Forgetting all about my lineage
The integrity of a worthy name
Down I came crashing from grace
As I could no longer sustain my pace
I pray my child, my life never embrace
As I have caused men pain all my days
All the spoils of my reckless escapades
I have lavished on mundane pleasures
The honor I claim by day was all charades
Now I go to the grave without treasures
The fury of hell stares me in the face
I took the pain to write this little scroll
Now that my oil is finished on the canvass
Let not your life follow my direction of flow
As you still have time to make a reverse.
Upon life’s lofty things, I lay claim
Forgetting all about my lineage
The integrity of a worthy name
Down I came crashing from grace
As I could no longer sustain my pace
I pray my child, my life never embrace
As I have caused men pain all my days
All the spoils of my reckless escapades
I have lavished on mundane pleasures
The honor I claim by day was all charades
Now I go to the grave without treasures
The fury of hell stares me in the face
I took the pain to write this little scroll
Now that my oil is finished on the canvass
Let not your life follow my direction of flow
As you still have time to make a reverse.
