The God Almighty Dollar

The God Almighty Dollar

Once when I was very young
I was given a dollar
I spent it all on candy
And then began to holler

Momma tried to calm me
Kissing me,Hugging me
Leaving her warm scent on my collar
But I didn't want this
I wanted that God Almighty dollar

Now I'm older and I work hard for my money
I crave money dearly Like a bee does honey

But I can't keep it
So the bill collectors say
And they throw a big fit
If I don't send it their way

If I don't give in
They begin to holler
And I still end up without
That God Almighty dollar

Hahaha so true at first we spent it easily without thinking and now we think too much but still end up without it. Lol

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
