The Flight of an Eagle. From Rt.209
The FLIGHT of an EAGLE ……………………………
The flight of an eagle, I saw with own eye’s ! , Me and Ron Hillman , Caught by surprise. As we drove on this road , Route two-o-nine,
There in the road !
A bird at dine
As he slowed on the brakes , Pull over to side . A two foot bird ,
Couldn’t believe own eye’s. ! Brown feathers on back, , White neck to head , “WOW!
LOOK at THAT “, THAT’S WHAT RON SAID.
For the spread of hiswings , At lease four foot long , The beauty of this bird , Just like a song .
With the strength of his thighs ,
And one flap of his wings,
With just one leap ,
It’s gravity he defeats .
Then a whoosh over head ,
As he lands on a branch .
His thrown in the tree ,
For the eagle is king.
As he scopes out his kingdom , from left to right ,
the stair of dark eyes ,
Kept me a little in freight .
The broad of his chest ,
as he leaps in the wind ,
heading for nest ,
his Eaglets are in .
Never I saw ,
such a sight ,
limped in his claws ,
food for the night .
pictures in books
indeed are fact ,
but , to see what we saw ,
Nothing beats that .
the flight of an eagle,
not just any- you see
the bird of our country ,
an endangered species .
SO ,
if you’re ever in the Catskill,
on Route two-o-nine,
for the thrill of all thrills,
keep the eagle in mind .
FOR HIGH ABOVE the CLOUDS HE GLIDES ,
THE BAULD EAGLE who RULES THE SHAWANKA SKIES .
And maybe , just maybe
—like ron and I –you’ll see
THE FLIGHT OF AN EAGLE
WITH YOUR OWN TWO EYE’S…………………
