    The Beauthy of Children

Sometimes it takes getting older to see
How precious and beautiful children can be
    A child's innocence last only a while
With big bright eyes, a tear and a smile

Children can charm us with the greatest of ease
And will try to do whatever they please
Our job is to love them and show them the way
As they too will become an adult one day

But children have a message to remind us all
You can get up again after you trip or fall
You continue to enjoy life's simple pleasures
The wonders of the world and its infinite treasures

A hug and a kiss mean more than you know
Time spent together and the patience you show
A tender encouragement goes a long way
Enjoy these moments as you watch them at play

How quickly time passes, how swift the years
Cherish each day before it disappears
Protect the blessings that children give
With love and honor teach them to live

For children are closer to God than we
Til the veil slowly closes and distorts what they see
Our job is to help them to not close their eyes
And to seek God first is always most wise

Give them the tools they'll need on this earth
Dieing to self through a brand new birth
Teach them the way, the light and the truth
Teach them about Jesus while still in their youth

And last, but not least, continue to pray
That all God's children will know Him one day
And long for their Father who loves them so much
Surrounded by grace and His heavenly touch

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
