    The Ability to Love

    I was with angels
    They knew how to offer
But not how to take back
They gave me the comfort od no-doubt
    I was with demons
    So fixed
    So strong in expressions
    I almost thought they cared
But it was in the unsettling of a human heart
Where I found the ability to love

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
