    Talking with Atheists

The way you walk to your god
Will be my entry into heaven
Listening to the sound of a God within
    Or hearing a growling
Litany of lies that is the world’s troubles
One can’t hear both at the same time

Oh, he’s an atheist all these millennium
Nothing here nor there to believe in
That hasn’t been killed mangled gone to war
Dying a thousand years and a thousand more
With those arrogant men who believed in God.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
