    Stripped and Vulnerable

Sometimes, when I’m just sitting or standing in a group of people, I feel like I’m completely naked.
I’m stripped and vulnerable with all eyes watching, staring, just waiting for me to do something wrong.
They are waiting, ready to pounce from the right side of the room where they have all gathered.
The tension is high as it was when my uncle served General Patton in the war; how that great man roared his commands, one didn’t dare disobey.
Yet how can I disobey when no one will speak.
    Please tell me something!
    Ask me anything!
Make a request--don’t just sit there like vultures
eyeing me, sizing me up, measuring me as to how much of a meal I will make!
Oh--to be a mouse that could run away and scurry down a hole hiding from those evil stares.
But alas, I cannot hide and they cannot talk, for they have come for me; I am the center of attention, the main attraction.
I willingly came to this place and got up on stage to read my poems.

    A beautifully honest poem

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
