Stalker
I can smell you from afar.
Your jasmine scent carries
on a saccharine wind,
slipping between my lips,
and tickling the back of my tongue
as it rolls down my throat.
I can taste your fragrance.
My shadow will always shelter you.
My shadow's always there.
I can nearly feel the silk strands
of your pale shining hair.
the thought of them
sliding through my fingers
and twisting about my face
caresses my fevered fantasies
and I watch them writhe in the wind.
My shadow will always shelter you.
My shadow's always there.
The iron bars of my cell
pattern the concrete floor,
crisscrossed and square,
calling to mind the lattice-work
of Apartment 6-B,
third to the left from the back -
Your bedroom window.
I remember watching you sleep.
My shadow has always sheltered you.
My shadow will always be there.
