Someone In Need
Hey, it's me again. You know, the kid on the street you pass by daily but you don't say anything to me or give me food.
Instead, you talk about me and laugh, just being plain old everyday rude.
You have no idea what it feels like to go day after day without having something to eat.
You have no idea what it feels like to walk in the snow without decent shoes on your feet.
During this time of year, you and your family start making plans for holiday dinners while I eat snow and garbage, and drink from puddles and dog bowls.
While you cuddle up under covers in front of a furnace or fire place, I'm freezing.
While you sleep soundly at night, I die.
If only you would've done one kind thing.
If only you would've shared.
If only you would've done something to show me you cared.
But you can't now, It's too late. My body is lifeless and cold.
Maybe the next time you see someone in need you won't act so bold.
