    Poem Commentary

I wrote this when I worked in nursing homes. somewhere around 1988.

    Someday

Someday I will show you all that I can do,

all my pain is worth it if I could just cure you.

I'd take you to heaven on the first plane out,

make a sea of all my tears if I could erase your doubt.

Take my heart to make yours beat, leave me for your happiness with no shoes on my feet,

Why is there nothing I can do?

Why is my world so good and yours so blue??

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
