    Poem Commentary

I wrote this when I worked in Southern California with aids patients. Kelly O

    I See

I see you in a different light,I see you well and free,

I see a turned over world as dark as dark can be, what's in store for our children if the sick die so young?

The pregnant that are supposed to shine, how low their heads are hung.

How guilty am I  for being o.k. why can't you get up and run?

How dare we complain about the weather, when your world has no sun?

shelter you from evil , I would shelter your world so blue,

How truly happy would I be to breathe my life into you.
    Kelly Overmyer/Eastman

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
