Sleep My Sweetheart!

Sleep My Sweetheart!

O' my sweetheart what is wrong?
Sleep awhile for rain is strong.
Sky is cloudy, night is dark
Sleep! Let the dogs outside bark
Are you scared or hopeless?
Don't be scared, I am with you.
Light murders gloom of night
Sleep! Morning sun will kiss your feet.
Night will pass, day will start.
Don't get sick, sleep awhile
Wakeup fresh and give me smile
Life carries four seasons
Spring, summer, winter; autumn
Life is nothing but change of season
People smile change is reason
Sleep my sweetheart
Don't be sick
Other's flowers can not be yours
If you need for love a rose

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
