SINCE

Since the day I met you
My heart's been all aglow.
I've never been so happy.
I think you ought to know.
I thought I'd found the answer
To all my lonely dreams.
The person I have longed to meet
For many years it seems.

You came just like a vision;
Appeared from out the blue.
Since then I knew I could really care
For someone just like you.
All this love I have to give,
I badly want to share.
If you could only understand
How much I really care.

For I'm the sort of person
Who wants to spend my time
Making someone just like you
Happy all their lives.
But you never saw me.
You didn't notice me at all.
My broken heart's in pieces
Since that day that I did fall.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
