    Poem Commentary

We did much sailing years ago as a family and I spent hours watching life on and around the ocean.LIfe seems to become more meaningful at such times, when one is removed from the pressures of the land. one feels the experience of living more clearly.

    SEPTEMBER

    "Day begins.
Six starlings, beaks skimming the water,
    fly south.
An old gull drops his catch upon the sand.
Porpoises, lazily rolling, fish some fifty yards from land.

There is food here in the shallows,
but I, hungry for your eyes, your smile,
    search in the cherished waters
    for your unfathomed love."

    true love found ------------------------------------------------nice

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
