SEPTEMBER
"Day begins.Six starlings, beaks skimming the water,
fly south.
An old gull drops his catch upon the sand.
Porpoises, lazily rolling, fish some fifty yards from land.
There is food here in the shallows,
but I, hungry for your eyes, your smile,
search in the cherished waters
for your unfathomed love."
