Sad Girl
A girl sits in a tree
The sky is dark blue
There is a river below
She likes the quietness
A raindrop falls on her skin
Then raindrops flee from her eyes
She is sad
But you'll never know why.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
