    Ride of Honor

Noble knight into battle he will ride, his lord’s colors and crest displayed with pride.

Champion accepts a token from his lady fair, kisses the satin ribbon from her crown of golden hair.

Astride an anxious stamping steed, knight awaits his fate on a field of green.

With battle cry drumming in his ear, there is the knowledge that death is the price of fear.

Slashing sword fuels the survival need, to fight for all justice, lord and the right to be free.

Comrades and enemies pay the price for their fear, all who survive pray to God for an end to be near.

A deadly pulse in her heart does burn, as lady awaits her champion’s return.

All rejoice with shouts of joy this day, the hero returns with honor, lord and freedom saved.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
