Rest In Peace With a Scripture

    There are cages everywhere
And it seems that I’m watching everything
    Around behind bars myself.
    Trapped like an animal
    I’m stuck here
    Thinking non stop about you.

To the casket in the grave
    I’ll rest in peace
    With a scripture
    Stating the one who never
    Got the chance.

    You see
    You play a game
    Without trying
    And it’s amazing
That you’re an expert at something
    That you don’t even know
    A controller exists for.

    For some odd reason
    It seems that my soul
    Is stuck to you.
No matter how hard I try
    To get away,
To stop my thoughts about you,
    It’s impossible.

I’m not just saying these things
    Because honestly,
    I tried
I can swear on my life
    That I tried,
But just a glimpse of you
Is the fuel to the desire.

    My thoughts run
    Like machines
    And if all the wires
    Were rearranged
I’d always get the thought of you
    Back into this head.

    If our lips would touch
    For just a second
I think my mind would explode,
But in the sense of amazement
Like a baby getting its first glimpse at the world.

Don’t know if you take my words
    As a joke,
If you laugh every time my expressions
    Are told,
    But if one day
    You were to say
    That you felt the same
    I would pass out
    And wake up
    To fuel your every need.

I’d die giving you the world
Because I would never mess up
On something that I’ve been stressing
    Over for so long.

    If it never happens
    I’ll die in disdain,
Despising the person who took your heart.

To the casket in the grave
    I’ll rest in peace
    With a scripture
    Stating the one who never
    Got the chance.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
