    Repression

Words that live inside of me
    They never find their way
Out of the tortured silence here
To see the light of day

They linger in a bitter hell
    They seem to never try
To send their thought into the world
Content, instead, in here to die

I sometimes try to drive them out
I try to set them free
But then my words would meet the ears
Of all who wait to criticize me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
