reminiscence
When I
a flop-footed puppy dog with untied shoelaces
in the clover-green days of lived and loved
as of yet untried by circumstance or fate
collapsed into my soul-like skin
with a misunderstanding sigh
and an ambivalent eye
my peach-fuzz face relaxed into black and white
(kodachrome, kodachrome, sings the dead radio)
then, once forgotten, did myselves condense
as if steam caught in a jar
into a single flow of crackling bitterness.
a flop-footed puppy dog with untied shoelaces
in the clover-green days of lived and loved
as of yet untried by circumstance or fate
collapsed into my soul-like skin
with a misunderstanding sigh
and an ambivalent eye
my peach-fuzz face relaxed into black and white
(kodachrome, kodachrome, sings the dead radio)
then, once forgotten, did myselves condense
as if steam caught in a jar
into a single flow of crackling bitterness.
