    Remembering Christmas

    Remembering the games we played
    The laughter and the joy
Christmas was such a special time
    Playing with our toys

    Remembering you sneaking in
    Thinking we were sleeping
    Lying still and so excited
    Really we were peeping

    Remembering the snowy years
    Out playing in the street
    Coming in freezing cold
Mum warming our frozen little feet

    Remembering our Christmas dinner
    Grandparents with us to
Eating till we’re fit to burst
‘more potatoes’ OK just a few!

    Remembering the decorations
That we had from year to year
The paper bells and strings of cards
    Would suddenly appear

    Remembering all the good times
    Yes we had so many
And every year we think of these
    Forever in our memory

And though our Christmases are different now
We have families of our own
    We always stop to think
And remember the love that you’ve shown

So thank you Mum and Dad
For showing us how it should be
    The loving, sharing and giving
That we pass on to our own family
