    "Love Came Knocking"

    Heart break after heart break,
    I couldn't take no more,
so for the rest of my days,
    I'll just ride solo.

    Tired of the lies,
    Tired of the pain,
    Tired of seeking sunshine,
    but getting rain.

    I threw my hands up,
and declared , I'll love no more!
Then love knocked on my door.

    Tall and handsome
    was he,
    and he came to set
    my broken heart free.

    His eyes,
    his smile,
    made me feel as giddy
    as a child.

    Did I dare,
    try love again?,
    Naw I thought,
I'll just keep him as a friend.

    But that wasn't what
    he was looking for,
    yes he wanted friendship,
    with a whole lot more.

    I thought,
    why not
    give love one more try,
    and now I understand why.

    He loves me,
    with all of his heart,
    from each other,
    we will never part.

    Although I said,
    I'll never love again,
    I'm glad he's more
    than a friend.

    So before you give up
    on love,
    before you think ,
    you can't love no more,
    be careful because,
    love just might,
    come knocking on your door.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
